Ernest L “Ernie” Seiders 1945-2023

Ernest L “Ernie” Seiders, 78,  of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away , Thursday, September 21, 2023,  at his residence.

Ernie was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 5, 1945, a son of the late Ruth A. (Moats) Foreman and Clifford L.  Seiders. 

He was the husband of Mary K. “Kathy” (Gelvin) Seiders, who he married on August 5, 1972.

Ernie served in the United States Army Reserve.  He retired from the PA Turnpike , after many years of service. 

He was a member and past Captain of the Fulton Honor Guard, a member of the American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg and the VFW Post 655, McConnellsburg. 

Ernie loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and hunting mushrooms. He also enjoyed fixing things for friends and family.   

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Ashley L. Seiders, of McConnellsburg, PA, Barclay L. “Butch” (husband of Christie) Seiders, of Mercersburg, PA, daughter Cassandra L. Garlock, of McConnellsburg, PA and brother Roy L. “Pete” (husband of Lisa) Seiders, of Columbia, SC.  He is also survived by five grandchildren; Harleigh L. (wife of Sharemay) Seiders, Shawn M. Garlock, McKenzie J. (wife of Ethan) Barber, Jazmin Seiders and Lexi Seiders, four great grandchildren; Olivia Clark, Everett Barber, Zav’ Riana Jones and Easton Barber. 

He was preceded in death by a brother Merrill Seiders

Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc, McConnellsburg, PA, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27th,  with Pastor Roy L. Seiders officiating. 

There will be a visitation held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to the start of service.  The Fulton Honor Guard will provide military honors.  Interment will be private.   

Arrangements were made by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
