Family Seeking Help After Franklin County House Fire

Crews responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon in Franklin County.

The fire was reported around 2:50 p.m. in the 8400 block of Huber Road in Peters Township, according to Franklin Fire Company.

When crews arrived, fire was showing from multiple windows of the two-story family home.

The home was evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. One dog was lost in the fire, according to the Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association.

A GoFundMe was started Sunday to help the family rebuild after the fire. According to the fundraiser, donations will go toward replacing essential clothing, basic furniture, securing a new place to live and cremating the family dog.

Organizer Deseree Wolff said the family is grateful for the support they have received.

“We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has reached out with support,” Wolff said. “It’s been overwhelming and beautiful to witness the community coming together in such a difficult time.”

Community members can donate through the family’s GoFundMe here.
