Fatal Crash Claims Life of Motorcyclist on Interstate 81 in Franklin County

One person has died in a fatal crash on Interstate 81 in Franklin County. The accident occurred in Guilford Township and involved a motorcycle rider. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the rider was traveling southbound on I-81 near mile marker 13.5.

For unknown reasons, the rider exited the left lane and crossed both southbound lanes before colliding with a guardrail on the western shoulder. The crash resulted in the rider’s death, as confirmed by the Franklin County Coroner.

Following the incident, I-81 was temporarily closed for investigation purposes but has since reopened. The driver, a 65-year-old man from Greencastle, lost control of his 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and suffered significant damage upon striking the guardrail.
