Police log: Fatal motorcycle crash in Adams County
Pennsylvania State Police investigated a number of crashes Friday, including a fatal motorcycle crash in Adams County.
PSP Adams County
A Gettysburg man died Friday when his motorcycle crashed on East Berlin Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Jeremy A. Plank, 29, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
He was traveling west on East Berlin Road at 12:49 a.m. in Tyrone Township when his Yahama motorcycle left the north edge of the roadway and hit a street sign, police said. He lost control of the bike and it turned onto its side, sliding a short distance before hitting a mail box and utility pole.
Plank was pronounced dead at the scene.
PSP Cumberland County
A Shippensburg man escaped with minor injuries following a one-vehicle crash on Airport Road just south of Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg Township, Friday afternoon.
Police said Matthew D. Burford, 22, lost control of his car when he tried to make a left turn from Walnut Bottom Road onto Airport Road at 4:50 p.m. Friday. His car went off the road and hit a curb, causing disabling damage to the front end and drive train. Excessive speed contributed to the crash, police said.
Burford was not wearing a seat belt at the time. Shippensburg EMS personnel treated him at the scene for minor injuries to his legs and hands.
