The Franklin County Area Development Corporation (FCADC) is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $4.6 million PA Sites Grant to support the development of Lot 5, the final remaining parcel in the Wharf Road Industrial Park in Washington Township.
This transformational grant will fund the excavation and full preparation of a 20.5-acre site—paving the way for the completion of an industrial park that has already delivered significant economic benefits to the greater Waynesboro area.
Located on Zane A. Miller Drive, the FCADC anticipates subdividing the site into three new industrial lots measuring 4.8 acres, 7.49 acres, and 8.09 acres, respectively. Originally acquired by FCADC in February 2022, the parcel—known as Lot 5—posed notable development challenges due to its rolling terrain, limestone outcroppings, brushland, and steep elevation changes. This grant will allow FCADC to overcome those challenges and unlock the site’s full potential.
The scope of work includes:
- Comprehensive clearing, grading, and rock excavation/blasting
- Driveway construction and paving
- Installation of utility infrastructure
- Implementation of erosion & sediment control and stormwater management systems
Once completed, the site will support the development of up to three industrial buildings totaling 125,000 square feet of new industrial space—further boosting regional growth, job creation, and economic diversification.
