Food Lion Feeds supports local food pantry

Food Lion Feeds

Food Lion Feeds has selected Mercersburg’s My Neighbor’s Bounty Food Pantry as part of the supermarket chain’s Great Pantry Makeover program.

It is part of the supermarket’s support of food pantries during Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month.

Food Lion Feeds is remodeling and stocking the shelves at numerous food pantry locations across the country. The program is now working it’s pantry makeover magic in Mercersburg.

“We are proud to partner with Feeding America and the Central PA Food Bank during Hunger Action Month to help raise awareness of this nationwide effort to help end hunger,” said Andy Garnes, Mercersburg’s Food Lion Manager.

He said The Great Pantry Makeover provides Food Lion team members an opportunity to connect with their neighbors; and do it while nourishing the communities they serve.

Since 2015, Food Lion Feeds has renovated nearly 260 food pantries. Food Lion team members support these local efforts by volunteering to complete pantry upgrades and improvements.

This includes remodels ranging from cleaning and painting to installing shelving, coolers and other equipment to expand their capacity.

In addition to performing the work, Food Lion associates will stock the pantry shelves with food. Food Lion has also provided My Neighbor’s Bounty with gift cards.
