Former field hockey coach charged

A former field hockey coach charged with sexually assaulting a child is at large this week and wanted by Pennsylvania State Police.

William Francis Gaudette III, 77, Hummelstown, faces multiple felony sexual assault charges when apprehended. Police said the charges stem from multiple incidents in which a juvenile female was assaulted in 2020 and 2021.

Gaudette was a field hockey coach in Central Pennsylvania and for the East Coast Field Hockey Club for several years. In addition to looking for Gaudette, police are seeking anyone who might have been victimized by him.

Police ask that victims or anyone with information about Gaudette’s whereabouts contact their nearest Pennsylvania State Police barracks. Police have a warrant for his arrest.

Dauphin County Children and Youth Services reported the case to police, prompting the investigation. A magisterial judge issued a warrant for Gaudette’s arrest a week ago on Oct. 6 . Police believe he fled Dauphin County as the investigation unfolded.

Charges against him include:

  • Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years Older. a first degree felony
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault on a juvenile Less Than 16 years of age, a second degree felony
  • Indecent Assault on a person Less 16 Years of Age, a second degree misdemeanor
  • Unlawful Contact With a Minor – Sexual Offenses. a first degree felony
  • Corruption Of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above, a third degree felony
  • Intimidating a Witness/Victim – Refrain From Report, a first degree felony
