2020-21 PSUAC All-Senior Teams: Four Mont Alto student-athletes chosen
Four Penn State Mont Alto student-athletes are on the 2020-21 PSUAC All-Senior Teams. The PSUAC Tournament & Awards Committee decided to honor its seniors across the commonwealth with an All-Senior Team for fall and winter sports this year. The selections are based upon career statistics and accolades. The Committee reviewed all nominated seniors and sophomores who either graduated or are transferring to University Park; they then created the All-Senior Teams.
Joao Pedro, soccer All-Senior team
Joao Pedro (Sorocaba, Brazil / Colegio Uirapuru) was highlighted on the men’s and women’s soccer All-Senior Team after putting together an impressive freshman campaign. The midfielder scored four goals, which was second best on the squad during the 2019 season including three game-winning efforts. Pedro also tallied a pair of assists as the Nittany Lions finished the 2019 season with a 10-8-1 record; the record represented the most wins since the 2010 season.
MaryAnn Black and Tori Stouffer, women’s soccer
Penn State Mont Alto had both MaryAnna Black (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Tori Stouffer (Orrstown, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) recognized on the women’s soccer All-Senior Team. Statistically, MaryAnna played several different roles on the field. She began as a defender/deep lying midfielder before producing offensively during her junior year in 2019. She was a huge reason why PSUMA finished with an 8-6-1 overall; including a 4-1-1 mark in the PSUAC that placed the squad second in the regular season standings. That record led to the team hosting its first conference postseason tournament semifinals game in program history. Black personally finished the season with a career-best four goals. She recently graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
Tori Stouffer (Orrstown, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) was the leading scorer in 2019 totaling a team-high 11 goals along with three assists for 25 points. Stouffer also made the USCAA All-American Honorable Mention Team a season ago. She had five appearances in goal; and was named PSUAC Goalkeeper of the Week after recording three-straight shutouts.
Melanie Tracy, volleyball
Representing the Mont Alto volleyball program on the 2020-21 All-Senior Team wasMelanie Tracey(York, Pa. / Dallastown Area). Tracey was a defensive standout during her career serving as a defensive specialist and was the starting libero during the 2019 season. Tracey led the team in digs with 402, while adding an impressive 47 aces. She ranked third in the entire USCAA in digs as she recorded 15 digs or more on 15 separate occasions, while adding a total of nine assists.
In addition, the conference office also recognized a John Fritz Sportsmanship Award honoree from each of the sports represented. The sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.
