Born September 22, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Arthur and Rose Julia (Zito) Ercolino.

In the late 1950s, Mr. Ercolino enlisted in the U.S Air Force, where he served as a medic with the 81st Tactical Hospital overseas, including Scotland and North Africa. When he returned home, he worked as a health inspector for the New York Department of Health. He later worked in sales. The family relocated to the Greencastle area from New York in the mid-1970s.

Mr. Ercolino enjoyed collecting stamps and gardening with his wife, Audrey. The pair, who celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 26, 2021, had numerous flower and vegetable gardens in their back yard, where they spent many summer days and evenings.

Mr. Ercolino was quick to make friends, too, and always had a pot of coffee on the stove for neighbors who would pop in for a visit. His door was always open. At family dinners, you could find him at the head of the table, smiling, laughing and enjoying the conversations around him. He especially loved being a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey P. (Heller) Ercolino; two children, Audrey Hammond and her husband, Don, of Waynesboro, and Scott Ercolino and his wife, Jill, of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Donovan Hammond and Alex Ercolino; a sister, RoseAnn Pierce of Boynton Beach Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Salvatore, Robert and Arthur.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Bowersox Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
