Franklin County Celebrates Major Technological Advancements in Emergency Services

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) recently celebrated significant upgrades to the 911 system in Franklin County, marking a historic milestone in emergency services technology. Joined by county and local leaders in Chambersburg, PEMA officials highlighted the enhancements made possible through recent legislation signed by Governor Shapiro in 2023.

These critical updates include the capability to text 911, enhanced caller location accuracy, and more seamless information sharing among emergency services. Such advancements are vital in improving response times in situations where every second counts. This initiative, backed by state funding, ensures that all counties across Pennsylvania are equipped with these life-saving technologies.

Governor Shapiro’s administration, along with the Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania, played a crucial role in securing the funding for these essential services, emphasizing the state’s commitment to safety and technological innovation in emergency management.
