Solomon’s United Church of Christ in Franklin County celebrated the installation of a new solar array with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Sunday. The newly installed system consists of 30 solar panels and is designed to cover 100% of the church’s electricity needs.
According to church officials, the solar panels are expected to save approximately 27% on energy bills each month, translating to around $70,000 in savings. These funds will be redirected towards the church’s mission and community outreach programs.
Pastor Julia Brown emphasized the environmental benefits of the initiative, stating, “We felt like we needed to do our little part to help care for the environment. Solar panels are a great way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, contribute to American energy independence, and steward our financial resources more effectively.”
The project was completed in collaboration with RE-volv, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting renewable energy.
