Franklin County staff will conduct mosquito spraying beginning around sunset Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Greene and Guilford townships and Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Washington Township and Waynesboro Borough.
The spraying follows the detection of high levels of West Nile virus in mosquito populations in the affected areas.
Areas scheduled for spraying in Greene and Guilford townships include, but are not limited to:
- Brownsville Road
- Winterberry Drive
- New Lane
- Camelot Drive
- Schaff’s Mobile Home Park
- Cameo Drive
- Medallion Drive
- Main Street in Fayetteville
- Norlo Park
- Harbo Road
- Guilford Complex
- Ragged Edge Road
- Crestwood Drive
- Highland Road
- Leedy Way East
Areas scheduled for spraying in Washington Township and Waynesboro Borough include, but are not limited to:
- Creekside Boulevard
- Welty Road
- North Welty Road
- Quail Run Drive
- Washington Township Boulevard
- Country Club Road
- Gehr Road
- Green Ridge Drive
- Old Forge Road
- Brookdale Drive
- Amsterdam Road
The county said the listed roads are provided for reference and that nearby roads and areas may also be sprayed.
Weather conditions or other unexpected events could delay or cancel the operations. If spraying is canceled, it will be rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3.
Franklin County staff turn off truck-mounted sprayers when residents are outside during spraying. Residents are being asked to remain indoors while spraying is underway so crews can complete the operation without interruptions.
