Franklin County Visitors Bureau Launches Veteran To Cap Off America250 Commemoration

In this special year of America’s semi-quincentennial, Franklin County Visitors Bureau (FCVB) wants to take another moment to spotlight America’s 250th birthday by recognizing the Veterans of Franklin County. The Visitors Bureau invites Franklin County residents—past and present—to help us recognize and share the county’s veterans. FCVB will honor Veterans for Veteran’s Day, November 11, and into Festival of Trees, November 21 to December 5. The Visitors Bureau invites you to share in honoring loved ones, friends, and yourself. Help FCVB say thank you for your service. There is no cost to participate. FCVB simply needs:

  • Your name, rank/title, and military branch
  • Years of service and military campaign(s)
  • Current age or if a deceased friend or loved one, dates of birth and passing
  • Up to 12 words of description
  • A digital photo or a photo FCVB can scan.

FCVB will initiate the exhibit for Veteran’s Day 2026 and will annually invite more Veterans to join in being honored. Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
