Free Basic Collision Investigation Course Offered by Pennsylvania State Police

The Pennsylvania State Police will conduct a free one-day Basic Collision Investigation course for all patrol officers on March 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The training, aimed at enhancing the skills of officers in collision scene investigation, will cover essential techniques in documenting and collecting physical evidence from accident sites.

Participants will learn through practical exercises, including basic scene photography, preparing hand-drawn scale diagrams, and a live demonstration involving a mock accident scene measuring exercise. The course is focused on the practical aspects of collision investigation without involving complex mathematical computations, which are only demonstrated after the course examination.

Key skills to be acquired include proper documentation of collision scenes, identification, and documentation of evidence related to the vehicles and roadway involved, and describing the sequence of events of motor vehicle collisions.

Interested officers can register for the course at Franklin County Public Safety Training Center. The instructional flyer features images courtesy of the Franklin County Coroner’s Office and Station 4.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
