North Square Farmer's Market: Fresh food with market reopening
Fresh, delicious food is coming back with tomorrow’s reopening of Chambersburg’s North Square Farmer’s Market.
While it’s still a little early for all the flavors of summer, the market’s meat, fruit, vegetable, cheese, baked goods, and prepared food vendors will have the fresh products of Spring.
North Square Farmers Market provides a weekly opportunity to get some of the freshest, best tasting local food in Franklin County. After a long winter, it is finally time for fresh, flavorful food to return!
Residents can shop for local produce, meat, cheeses, plus wood-fired pizzas and lotus bowls, fresh squeezed juice, and fresh baked goods affordably, at the downtown Chambersburg open-air farmers market.
POP, our nutrition club for all kids ages 2 to 16 returns this year. Visit the market info booth for weekly activities and $2 in tokens to spend on fruits or vegetables at market.
Double Dollars, doubling the value of all EBT from SNAP and WIC, is back as well. For every $1 charged to an EBT card the cardholder gets $2 worth of market tokens (up to $20 per EBT transaction per week). Visit the market info booth to get your double dollars.
Live musical performances are featured each week at the North Square Farmer’s Market. Bart & Brian are featured this week.
The open-air market opens at 8 a.m. and closes at noon.
Market health safety rules
Face masks are optional for anyone fully vaccinated. “Fully vaccinated” means 2 weeks after both shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine; or 2 weeks after the single shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. According to CDC and state’s Department of Health guidance, fully vaccinated people no longer are required to wear a mask or socially distance.
The market’s mission to provide the lowest risk environment possible to support local businesses and provide everyone access to the highest quality food around continues.
Market organizers ask that those not vaccinated continue to wear a mask and socially distance while at the market. That includes those who have not passed their second week after getting their second COVID-19.
You can find the full list of the market’s Safety practices here.
The market provides free masks at it’s information booth.
