G. Ivan “Jim” Fortney Jr. 1937~2021
Mr. G. Ivan “Jim” Fortney, Jr., 83, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA.
Born February 7, 1937 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late George I. Fortney, Sr. and Margaret (Sheeley) Fortney.
Mr. Fortney graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1955.
He and his wife of over 63 years, Donna L. (Loy) Fortney, were married on March 9, 1957.
In his early life, Mr. Fortney worked as a truck driver for several years. From 1965 until his retirement in 2015 he owned and operated Fortney Upholstery, Waynesboro.
He was a longtime member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, where he served as a deacon for several years.
Mr. Fortney enjoyed football, especially rooting for the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed coaching for the Cal-Quin Little League for over 10 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, George I. Fortney, III, Gina Kugler, and Nichole Fortney and her fiancé, Josh Wishard, all of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Angela Fortney, Kaylin Kugler, Emily Breigel, and Adalynn Wishard; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Christine Fortney and his son-in-law, William Kugler.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the auditorium at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, with Pastor Bill Shank officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday morning, in the church.
