Shippensburg University junior Gabe Stotler (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week in the Atlantic Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Tuesday.
Stotler received the weekly honor after picking up a complete game victory in the Raiders’ 3-1 win over Slippery Rock Feb. 25.
Stotler allowed just one unearned run on four hits in his nine innings of work. He walked just two batters, struck out five, and did not allow an extra-base hit.
He also retired the side in order in five of his nine frames and retired the last eight Rock batters of the game to achieve the third complete game of his career.
The outing was the first nine-inning complete game of Stotler’s career. His previous single-game career high for innings in a game was 7.1 last season against Shepherd.
Earlier in the day, Stotler was tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week.
For the season, Stotler has pitched to 1.52 earned run average in 23.2 innings.
It is the first-ever NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week recognition for Stotler.
It is the third NCBWA weekly recognition for the regionally-ranked Raiders this season. Junior catcher Andrew Chronister (Dover, Pa./Dover) was named NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week on Feb. 7, and freshman pitcher J.T. Weaver (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was named NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 21.
