Gabriele A. “Gaby” Kamelak

Born December 9, 1948, in Wolfhagen, Germany, Gaby was the daughter of the late Eugen Kamelak and Lucie Kamelak. She later came to the United States and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.

Gaby enjoyed a long career in consultative sales and corporate financing, specializing in technology leasing.

Outside of her professional life, Gaby had a love for gardening and a special affection for Greyhounds and the people devoted to them. She leaves behind her beloved Greyhound family, a community that was especially important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugen and Lucie Kamelak; her sister, Brigitta Nelson; and her brother-in-law, Andrew Nelson.

In keeping with Gaby’s love of Greyhounds, memorial contributions may be made to a Greyhound rescue or other Greyhound organization of the donor’s choice.

Private burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
