Gary Heckman, 76, passed away May 3, 2022, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

He was born February 24, 1946, in Shippensburg, Pa; he was the son of the late Effie and Jessie Heckman.

He married Lila (Peach Grooms) Heckman on August 16, 1970, and went on to have a son, Gary Heckman Jr and two foster sons: Buck Strock and Rick Setticase. He was of Protestant Faith and attended New Guilford Brethren Christ Church.

He graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1964 and served his country in the U.S. NAVY on the Naval Ship USS PROVIDENCE from 1966-1969.

Gary worked at the former Frank Gayman Chevrolet where he was the New Truck and Used Car Manager from 1970-1980, Letterkenny Army Depot from 1980-1996 when he retired and Heckman’s Sports Land from 1979-2012. He liked hunting, going golfing, watching football, and taking rides through the mountain.

Surviving is his wife, Peach, son, Gary Jr. and his brother Gerald Heckman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by two brothers: Melvin Heckman and Charlie Heckman and two sisters Dorothy Coldsmith and Glady Heckman.

Gary belonged to a lot of different organizations as a Life Member: Amvets Fairfield Chapter, VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg American Legion, South Mountain Fish and Game Association, Adams County Fish and Game Association, George Washington Lodge#143, Shriners, Chapter, Council, Commandery, Knights Templar and Various Other Masonic Organizations.

There will be a graveside service held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the New Guilford Brethren Christ Old Stone Wall Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Blackstone officiating and Military Honors by the Charlies Nitterhouse Post#1599.

There will be a viewing from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Sellers Funeral Home.

Masonic Honors will be held at 7 p.m. by the George Washington Lodge#143.
