Gas Leak Reported on Macintosh Way in Chambersburg

On October 27, 2025, emergency crews responded to the 200 block of Macintosh Way in the Borough of Chambersburg for an outside gas leak.

According to the Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1813, the incident was reported to Box 1-02 and handled by C-Shift. Engine 1-2, Engine 1-4, Ambulance 1-7, Chief 1, and Assistant Chief 1 were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, Engine 1-2 found that a contractor had struck a gas line while digging. Residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution, and the Chambersburg Borough Gas Department is on-site managing the situation.

Officials advise the public to avoid the area as crews continue to work.
