Gerald Eldon Peiffer, 89, a resident of Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 9, 2023.

Born March 26, 1934, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Aaron G. and Ruth (Sprenkle) Peiffer. He lived most of his life in Waynesboro, PA.

Gerald and Dorothy (Anderson) Peiffer were married on January 30, 1952, in Winchester, VA until her death on December 15, 1974. He married his current wife Lola (Songer-Sullivan) Peiffer on May 20, 1981, in Hagerstown, MD.

He attended Waynesboro High School. In 1989 he received a diploma of General Bible Course from Liberty University. He was involved in Ministries for many years receiving certificates of recognition from ministry organizations.

Gerald retired from the Chambersburg Hospital in 1996.

Gerald enjoyed being outdoors gardening, wood working, writing music and poetry and was an artist. Gerald was a member of the Waynesboro Bible Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Cheryl (Craig) Gardenhour, Waynesboro, PA; Brenda (Blaine) Bonebrake, Mt Airy, GA; Leesa (Samuel) Gates, Waynesboro, PA; Marcy (Larry) Carbaugh, Lebanon, PA; Penny (David) Bertsch, Apple Valley, MN; and Rebecca (Charles) Stanford, Smithsburg, MD; two sons, Dennis (Sharon) Peiffer, Smithsburg, MD; and Randy Peiffer, Fairfield, PA; three step-sons, David (Cathy) Sullivan, Greencastle, PA; Jeffrey Sullivan, Mont Alto, PA; and Gregory Sullivan, Fayetteville, PA; three sisters, Margaret Wagaman, Waynesboro, PA; Shirley (Gary) Barnes, Chambersburg, PA; and Trudy Moore, Springfield, VA; one brother, Frederick Peiffer, Mercersburg, PA; 15 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great-step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; four brothers, Charles, Arthur, Kenneth and Lowell; three half brothers, David, Norman and Harold; four sisters, Lenora Shatzer, Kathryn O’Donnell, Mary Jane Hoffman and Sandra Huber; three half sisters, Ruth Peiffer, Helen Minnich and Mildred Shadle.

Viewing and fellowship with a meal will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at Ringgold Church, 14420 Barkdoll Rd, Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Don Conley officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
