Giovanni Scelzi Wins $100,000 Bob Weikert Memorial Finale

Giovanni Scelzi earned his first Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing victory of the 2026 season Sunday night at Port Royal Speedway, winning the Bob Weikert Memorial presented by Greencastle Livestock Market and a $100,000 prize.

Brent Marks and Tyler Courtney started on the front row of the 40-lap feature. Courtney took the early lead before Chase Dietz moved into first place.

Courtney regained the lead on Lap 11, but Dietz moved back ahead on Lap 12. Marks advanced to second while Scelzi remained fourth.

A planned caution and red flag occurred at the halfway point to allow teams to refuel and make minor adjustments. Dietz led Marks, Courtney, Scelzi and Danny Dietrich at the break.

After the restart, Scelzi passed Courtney for third and then moved around Marks for second. Scelzi took the lead with 13 laps remaining and stayed ahead while navigating lapped traffic during the final 10 laps.

Scelzi finished first, followed by Dietz, Courtney and Marks.

Ryan Smith started 24th and finished fifth after passing 19 cars. He received the Ramsey’s Car Wash Hard Charger Award and an additional $500.

Lance Dewease received an additional $1,000 through the J&S Classics Warrior Award.

Port Royal Speedway will return to action Saturday, Aug. 8, with Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprint cars, Penns Valley Meat Market 305 sprint cars and River Rock Campground and RV Park limited late models.

The program will also include First Responders Night, offering first responders $10 general admission with proper identification. Pennian Bank will sponsor the annual Kids’ Money Scramble. Fleet Reps will present the program.
