CONGRATULATIONS!! One of our own, Bonnie Blake aka BB, won Hold the Line for Humanity Good Neighbor Fest Good Neighbor award!
Here is her nomination submitted by LDC:
It is with great respect and heartfelt appreciation that I nominate Bonnie Blake for the Good Neighbor Award.
Bonnie is the kind of person who makes a community stronger simply by being part of it. She has a genuine heart for people and continually demonstrates kindness, compassion, generosity, and a willingness to help others. She does not wait for someone to ask for help or for an opportunity to receive recognition, she sees a need and finds a way to make a difference.
What makes Bonnie such a special neighbor is the way she treats people. She makes others feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her kindness is not limited to one particular person, organization, or cause. She gives freely of herself because she truly believes that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion.
Bonnie understands that being a good neighbor is more than simply living alongside others. It is about showing up. It is about caring when someone is struggling, offering encouragement when someone needs hope, lending a helping hand when there is a need, and making people feel that they are not alone.
Her impact can be seen in the lives of the people around her. Whether through her involvement in the community, her willingness to support others, or the countless small acts of kindness she gives so freely, Bonnie has helped create a more caring and connected community.
At Little Daisy’s Closet, we see every day how much a helping hand can mean to someone who is going through a difficult season. A kind word, a donated item, a meal, a volunteer’s time, or simply someone taking the time to listen can restore hope. Bonnie understands that. She recognizes the person behind the need and treats everyone with respect. Her fun loving, kindhearted demeanor is always sure to bring a laugh or a smile. Her love for Jesus is evident in everything that she does. Bonnie is well known and loved by many of our donors. She has prayed with them during their difficult times, brought joy to their soul through laughter in their troubled times, hands out blessing cards during the holidays and unselfishly cooks twice a week for our volunteers. She is also known to just stop in a neighborhood and start handing out food items to those in need.
One of Bonnie’s greatest qualities is that she does not do good things for attention. She does them because helping others is simply part of who she is. Her compassion is genuine, her generosity is heartfelt, and her commitment to others is evident in the way she lives her life.
Bonnie is also someone who encourages others to give back. Her example reminds those around her that we all have something to offer. We may not be able to solve every problem, but we can make someone’s day a little brighter, someone’s burden a little lighter, and someone’s difficult moment a little easier.
A good neighbor is someone who makes you feel that you belong. Bonnie does exactly that. She builds connections, encourages people, gives hope, and helps create a community where people look out for one another.
Bonnie has raised two beautiful children and absolutely adores her grandchildren. She teaches them the importance of community service; Bonnie is creating a legacy of kindness that will continue well beyond her own contributions. She is helping raise the next generation to be compassionate, involved, and willing to step forward when their community needs them.
For all of these reasons, I am honored to nominate Bonnie Blake for the Bonnie Blake Good Neighbor Award. Bonnie is not only deserving of this recognition, but she also represents the very spirit this award celebrates.
Her kindness has an impact that reaches far beyond any single act. She is a reminder that being a good neighbor is not about doing one extraordinary thing; it is about consistently choosing kindness, compassion, generosity, and service.
Bonnie Blake makes a difference because she cares. She shows up because people matter to her. And she gives because she believes our community is better when we take care of one another.
We are proud to recognize Bonnie as the wonderful neighbor, community member, and example of kindness that she is.
