GREENCASTLE (Aug. 30, 2019) — Dignitaries and the public turned out in large numbers yesterday for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new WellSpan Greencastle Health Center.
The three-story, 45,000-square-foot health center officially opens Sept. 9 with an open house featuring free health screenings and tours of the state-of-the-art facility.
“We took a look at what (Greencastle patients) were coming to Chambersburg for so we could determine what they needed here,” said Miranda Ramsey, WellSpan’s director of retail services.
The facility has nine exam rooms and two procedure rooms in its urgent care center. It will be home to more than a dozen health specialty care practices, as well as a lab and imaging services.
“Our goal is to ensure patients have easy access to high quality health care,” said John Massimillla, vice-president and COO of WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
WellSpan already has a walk-in clinic at the John H. Grove Medical Center on Eastern Avenue in Greencastle.
New Center Brings Additional Health Services to Local Residents
Massimilla said the new health center provides services not previously offered in Greencastle. He said the location of the center at 24 Antrim Commons Drive will also be much more convenient for local residents.

Pat O’Donnell, president and CEO of WellSpan Summit Health, recognized all those who contributed to making the new health center possible and talked about Summit’s merger with WellSpan.
WellSpan Health President and CEO Roxanna Gapstur said the new health center fulfills a promise WellSpan and Summit made to each other and the community to provide the best local care close to home.
Prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony, WellSpan recognized the contribution of the Shockey Family Foundation for its $250,000 donation. The Shockey’s son, Ken, and his wife Bonnie were on hand for the celebration, held in the physical therapy area that is named for the Paul and Anna Shockey Family Foundation.
About 80 staff and health care providers will work at the $15 million facility when it opens next month.
