A Hagerstown man was arrested July 2 after police responded to a report of shots fired on Murph Avenue.
According to the Hagerstown Police Department, officers responded to 51 Murph Ave. at approximately 11:31 a.m. The suspect fled the area and was arrested within 10 minutes of the shooting.
Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Christian Allen Williams of Hagerstown. Police said Williams was observed on city cameras firing a gun toward people he had been arguing with.
No injuries were reported.
Police said the quick arrest was due to work by employees in the department’s Real Time Information Center and the deployment of the department’s drone.
Williams was transported to the Washington County Detention Center. He was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, handgun on person, handgun use in the commission of a violent crime and reckless endangerment.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
