Hannah Marsteller is a junior at the Shippensburg University and was named Thursday afternoon to the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-District 2 Softball Team. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Marsteller Impressive Stats
Marsteller is a senior academically and a junior athletically who is majoring in biology (pre-veterinary concentration). She maintains a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average (GPA).
The starting first basewoman for the Raiders, Marsteller was named one of 25 finalists for the 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Player of the Year award. She has earned four postseason awards for her play, including consensus All-Region (NFCA, D2CCA) First Team honors and All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division First Team honors. She was also named the 2022 D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year and the 2022 PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year.
In 50 games, Marsteller has a .525 average with 17 home runs, 60 RBIs, 13 doubles, 54 runs, 152 total bases, a .586 on-base percentage (OBP) and a .950 slugging percentage. She leads the nation in batting average, ranks second in on-base percentage, fourth in slugging percentage and is tied for eighth in home runs. She began the season on a 27-game hitting streak, which resulted in a PSAC record 37-game hit streak when including the final 10 games of 2021.
Marsteller is just the seventh player in PSAC history to hit .500 or better in a season and the only player in history to ever do it twice. She is also the first PSAC player to win back-to-back PSAC East Athlete of the Year awards in 20 years, since Bloomsburg’s Erica Miller won the award four straight seasons from 1998-2001.
Academic All-District Team
The Academic All-District ® Team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Marsteller was one of just four infielders selected to this year’s Academic All-District 2 ® Softball Team. District 2 includes all schools from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Marsteller is now among those eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America ® Team that will be announced June 7.
