Harry G Morningstar Sr., 86 of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021.
He was born in Chewsville, MD on the family farm on May 2, 1935 to Howard G. and Carrie V. Morningstar.
Harry learned the value of hard work and integrity from his beloved foster parents, Ora and Goldie Delauter, lessons that served him and others throughout his life.
Harry graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1954. It was at this point that he met the love of his life Louise Ray. They were married in 1956. They traveled the world extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest. Harry and Louise celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 25th 2021 before he was called home by his Savior.
His working career began at Landis Tool Company where he learned his trade and worked for over 10 years. As a self employed business man he opened Waynesboro Floor Covering in 1964 and later opened Furniture Market in 1978.
He enjoyed repurposing historic buildings and remodeling them into productive rental properties. Additionally he also enjoyed building quality housing developments. He then turned this interest into Morningstar Properties.
He was very committed to Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boy Scouts of America, Renfrew Park and Mainstreet Waynesboro Downtown Flower Patrol.
Harry had two favorite passions in life. The first was his family and the second was the great outdoors. He dearly loved his family and especially enjoyed hosting an annual destination vacation with all of them by his side. In the outdoors he was an international big game hunter and fishing sportsman. He was at home hunting in the Old Forge as well as on Safari in Africa. He was a bass master on the Potomac as well as sailfishing in the deep blue sea.
Harry was surrounded by his loving family when the Lord called him home. He is survived by his wife Louise, three brothers, Bill and his wife Judy, Dave and his wife Becky and George “Buddy” Semler. Three children, Harry, Jr. and wife Jill, Ora “Chuck” and wife Teresa, Misti and husband Rich Lucente.
