Miss Helen L Whitmore, 88, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD.
Born November 18, 1932 in Shady Grove, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. Whitmore and Arlene E. (Snyder) Sleighter, Sr.
Miss Whitmore worked at Freeman’s Shoe Factory for over 25 years as a machine operator. She retired on disability in 1973.
She was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where she was a member of the Married Couples Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sunshine Leisure Club of Smithsburg, MD and the National AARP.
Miss Whitmore enjoyed attending church functions and going out to eat with her family and friends.
She is survived by one sister, Vonda L. Bonner and her husband, Lamar of Quincy, PA; her niece, Christy Bonner; her nephew, Dylan Bonner; and several step-brothers and sisters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Garnet M. Sleighter, Sr.; her nephew, Kippen L. “Kip” Bonner; and her infant niece, Christy L. Bonner.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in Mount Zion Cemetery, Mount Zion Road, Quincy, PA with Pastor Mark Shover officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bowersox Funeral Homes.
There will be no public viewing.
