CHAMBERSBURG — Writer, Director, and Producer Len Kabasinski has chosen the home of the Franklin County Historical Society – Kittochtinny as a location for his next feature film, “Hellcats Revenge 2: Deadman’s Hand.”
The Society is housed in The Old Jail at 175 East King Street.
Kabasinski (“Hellcats Revenge”, “Swamp Zombies”, “Curse of the Wolf”), identifies the film as his first “grindhouse” style film and offers the following synopsis on his Indiegogo Campaign website:
Film Synopsis:
“Tough and sexy “Hellcat” club member Kat (Lisa Neeld) gets framed for a crime she didn’t commit and sent to a gruesome women’s prison ruled by a maniacal warden. She must fight her way out in order to get her revenge against ruthless and sadistic biker gang leader Rosie (Donna Hamblin)…and get help from her former lover “Snake” (Len Kabasinski) to make that revenge happen.”
Filming at The Old Jail is scheduled for June 30-July 1 and July 28-29. The movie has a tentative release date in early 2020.
History of the Old Jail
Built in 1818, the old jail is a two-story, brick building with a slate-covered hipped roof topped by a cupola.
The original building measures 84 feet wide by 48 feet deep. In 1880, a cell block was added.
The jail yard is divided into two sections and surrounded by a 20-foot high wall.
At least seven prisoners were hanged on the premises during its long use as the county’s only correctional facility.
It was in continuous use by the county until 1971, when a prison as built just outside Chambersburg’s city limits on Franklin Farm Lane.
Today the Old Jail is the home of the Franklin County Historical Society, founded in 1898. Each year the Society serves thousands through its tours, genealogy library, events, and educational presentations.
