Attention beer lovers! Hidden Key Brewing Company had its official grand opening on February 20th, at 101 W. Baltimore Street in Greencastle, PA. The new brewery is owned by brothers Tim and Rick Houck and friend Steve Bandstra, who also share the brewing responsibilities.
When asked about the brewery’s name, the owners explained that it originally belonged to a beer they brewed and then thought it was fitting to name their brewery. According to them, their beer is the “hidden key” that unlocks good times with family and friends.
With a team of three brewers, Hidden Key Brewing Company plans to offer a wide range of beer styles. Currently, they have 12 different beers on tap, of which only three are IPAs. The building, which was constructed in the late 1800s, borders the High Line train, and has a seating capacity of 100 inside the main bar and covered patio. Additionally, they can seat an additional 150 people in their two outside areas, the beer garden, and the secret garden.
The brewery currently offers growlers for sale and to-go. In the coming months, they plan to have cans available as well. For food, Hidden Key Brewing Company has partnered with Belle’s Kitchen next door to offer Southern-inspired cuisine that complements their beer.
In addition to the indoor seating areas, the brewery is currently building a walk-up bar in the beer garden. The beer garden will feature picnic tables, lots of seating, and entertainment. Hidden Key Brewing Company is dog-friendly outside and will have a few lawn games like cornhole for guests to enjoy.
The brewery is currently open Thursdays 4-9 PM, Fridays 4-10 PM, and Saturdays 11 AM-10 PM, with plans to add Sunday and Monday hours, as well as lunch hours shortly. Starting March 13th, their NEW hours will be Mondays 4-9 PM, Thursdays 4-9 PM, Fridays 11-10 PM, Saturdays 11-10 PM, and Sundays 10-4 PM.
