Firefighters from the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire report in Greene Township yesterday. The incident occurred in the 2600 block of Henry Road.
Assistant Chief Miller of the department was first on the scene, reporting smoke visible from the side of the residence. The homeowner had already begun efforts to extinguish the blaze using a garden hose by the time firefighting units arrived.
Engine 7-2 deployed a handline to address the fire, which was identified as a trash fire with minor extension to the structure of the house. The quick response from the homeowner helped prevent further damage.
Fire crews conducted an overhaul of the area to ensure the fire was completely out and checked for any further fire spread before clearing the scene. Chief 7 was in command throughout the operation.
