House Fire on E Washington St in Chambersburg, No Casualties Reported

Photos and information obtained from Franklin Fire Company

Early this morning, fire crews responded to a house fire at a duplex located in the 700 block of E Washington Street in Chambersburg, after receiving alerts of potential occupants trapped inside.

The Franklin Fire Company was dispatched at approximately 6:30 AM following a 911 call. Chambersburg Fire Department’s Engine 1-1 was first on the scene, arriving to find a two-story balloon frame duplex with flames visible from the rear.

Squad 41 immediately commenced search operations ahead of deploying their initial hoseline, thoroughly searching both floors but finding no occupants. They discovered the fire had spread to the attic, where they successfully deployed a hoseline to extinguish the flames.

Additionally, Truck 42 played a crucial role by positioning its aerial in the rear to begin roof ventilation and setting up ground ladders to aid the operation. Once the fire was fully extinguished, the fire crews conducted salvage and overhaul tasks.

The operation lasted about two hours, and thanks to the swift and effective response of the emergency teams, there were no injuries reported.
