A lightning strike caused a fire in a home located in the 1400 block of Lincoln Way East (LWE) at approximately 9:03 PM. Fire units responded promptly to the emergency call, dispatch code Box 44-01, which was raised following the incident.

Engine 7-1, manned by six firefighters, along with Squad 7, which carried three, were first on the scene. The crews discovered a small fire in the roof structure of the house. They acted swiftly to open up the affected area and extinguished the fire before it could spread further.

The situation was quickly brought under control, and the assignment was scaled back, allowing Company 7 to be released from the scene by Deputy Chief 47.
