Weekend events: It’s finally fall: Fun things list

It’s finally fall, and many people are ready to be out and about, enjoying the cooler weather and colors and scents of fall, safely of course.

There are a variety of outdoor activities to choose from around Franklin County this weekend, all family friendly or suited to individual or couples.

Mercersburg Townfest

Think about taking in Mercersburg’s Townfest Saturday in downtown Mercersburg from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce. It features more than 120 crafters, artisans, culinary and local vendors; entertainment from community and school bands.

A children’s fun section will be open on the grounds of the Mercersburg Elementary School. Activities will include

Entertainment will feature DJ Speaks and the Lucky Punk Band. There will be a variety of artisans and crafters, spread out from the Town Square on both East and West Seminary Street.

FALL DuffieldFest


Fall DuffieldFest happens Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food, crafts, artisans, and upcyclers. The event is rain or shine.

Catch the high energy of JESTER, who will take the Hip Gypsy Stage from 1-4 p.m., playing current and classic rock. Dancing is always welcome!

This is an outdoor show, so bring your lawn chairs. FAT Russ’ BBQ – Food Truck and Catering Service will be there supplying food. Other craft vendors will be there selling things as well. The music starts at 1 p.m. and continues until about 4. The festival takes place at Hip Gypsy Emporium, located at the old Duffield Elementary School, 2168 Mont Alto Road.

Fun awaits you at Stoner’s Dairy Farm & Corn Maze. Wander 5 acres of a themed maze, visit the petting zoo and play area, or take in the beautiful, spacious skies on a hayride. Enjoy a mini maze, petting zoo, pedal cart track, pumpkin contest, farm tours by wagon, magic show, and giant inflatables. Come enjoy a beautiful autumn day in Franklin County. You will find Stoner’s Dairy Farm a memorable experience.

All activities are outside in the farm-fresh open air.  We want to be a part of the solution; not the problem.  So in an effort to be socially responsible, some activities may be modified or closed.  Due to the current Governor’s orders and social distancing mandate for businesses, there will be no hayrides this year unless it is booked as a private tour. 

Food will be available as take-out only. 

Please abide by all CDC guidelines while visiting, including: social distancing, wearing a mask if you’re unable to social distance, washing/sanitizing your hands frequently,

Country Creek Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch


Spend about 45 minutes in Franklin County’s largest Corn Maze with over four miles of paths! If you need help, our mailboxes scattered throughout the maze will guide you in the right direction. If you aren’t up for the entire maze, don’t worry, an exit is set up half way for you to enjoy the other activities.

Country Creek has increased its sanitation schedule for all activities. Commonly used surfaces will be sprayed down with a commercial grade sanitizer (traditionally used to sanitize playgrounds).

Additional hand sanitizer and hand wash stations will be available around the farm at all times. Please use hand sanitizer upon entering the farm.

Country Creek Produce Farm provides plenty of space to social distance, but facial coverings are recommended when unable to social distance (6ft apart).

We are limiting hayrides to 50% capacity. Tractor wagons will be on a continual rotation from farm to pumpkin patch.

Last admissions will be taken 1 hour before closing time.

Maple Lane Farm & Corn Maze


Maple Lane Farm has a corn maze with a familiar theme for 2020! Visit the farm to see if you can find your way around memorial Fountain!

The event is staged thru November 1, with an elaborate maze, pony and horse rides, tractor rides, food trucks, wineries and a wide selection of pumpkins and gourds. Maple Lane Farm’s Facebook page provides updates to weekly events. 

Maple Lane Farm is open Saturday from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m.–6 p.m. Admission is $7.00 and Children 5 and under are FREE!

Fayetteville Fall Vendor Show


The Fayetteville Antique & Craft Mall Fall Vendor Show starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, hosted by Brittany West. Spend a few hours or a day, or weekend browsing through vendors offerings and enjoying some enjoy delicious BBQ. If you are searching for antiques or just looking for something unusual, this is an event you don’t want to miss.
