James M. “Jim” Crist obituary 1937~2020
Mr. James M. “Jim” Crist, 83, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 5, 1937 in Chambersburg he was the son of the late Melvin James and Doris (Hancock) Crist.
He was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1956.
Mr. Crist then went on to serve in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne.
Mr. Crist was employed as a welder for a number of years at Mentzer’s Welding and Bricker’s Welding. He was also employed at Pet-Ritz until his retirement.
He was a member of the Wesley Yeager American Legion Post 606, Chambersburg.
Mr. Crist enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, being outdoors, wood-working and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Bonilla of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Brandon Hoover of Mississippi, Jonathon Hoover (Annie) of Shippensburg, PA and Dawnna Gamrat of Chamberburg; two great-grandchildren, Vincent and Claire Hoover; three siblings, Peg Elliott, Donald Crist and Sally Shindledecker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Michael James Crist who passed away in 1963 and two sisters, Melba Hess and Helen Brindle.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
