Jeanette “Jean” C. Snyder

Jeanette was born on August 5, 1928, in Metal, the daughter of the late Isaac N. and Catherine C. (Price) Rosenberry.

She graduated from the former St. Thomas High School in 1946. Jeanette was a devoted member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, where she had been a member since 1943. She was also a member of N.A.R.F.E.

On March 15, 1953, Jeanette married Harold B. Snyder. She often noted that their wedding day was one of the best days of her life. Together, they shared a wonderful marriage and built a beautiful life, home, and family. Harold passed away on March 5, 2007.

Jeanette was also blessed to spend the last seven years of her life with her high school sweetheart, Marvin Wingert, 97, of Carlisle. Their companionship brought her much happiness and was a very special chapter in her long and beautiful life.

Jeanette worked at the former Stanley Co. for 11 years and at the former Tracey Fashions for 17 years. She loved planting and caring for flowers at her beautiful home, which she and Harold began building in 1952. They moved into their home in 1954, where they created decades of cherished memories together. Many of Jeanette’s beautiful flowers are still blooming today—a fitting reminder of the love and care she gave to her home and family throughout her life.

Jeanette is survived by her two children: daughter Debra C. Detwiler of Shippensburg, and son Roger L. Snyder and his wife, JoAnn, of State College.

She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Gary W. Long and his wife, Sandra; Chris C. Long and her wife, Wendy; Heather E.M. Collins and her husband, Dusty; and Heidi L. Hutchison and her husband, Scott. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Brittany N.H. Long, Sierra C. Stinebaugh, Dakota D. Long, and Shane D. Gelsinger; and three great-great-grandchildren: McKenzie C. Abramson, Paiyton L. Long, and Emmie G. Abramson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman Rosenberry and Raymond Traxler, and her sister, Eunice Milliron.

Jeanette will be remembered as an amazing wife, mom, and Granny whose 98 years of life were filled with family, faith, love, and countless beautiful memories. Her family loved her dearly and feels incredibly blessed to have had her in their lives for so many years.

A service celebrating Jeanette’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided following the service.
