Join The Tide Ministry’s Third Annual ‘Your Soles, Their Souls’ Shoe Drive

As we welcome the new year, The Tide® ministry (www.thetide.org) is launching its third annual “Your Soles, Their Souls” shoe collection initiative. From today, January 2, 2024, they aim to amass 5,000 pairs of new or slightly used shoes by March 6, 2024. This charitable effort supports micro-enterprises in developing nations while also funding The Tide® ministry’s Gospel outreach and literacy programs in India.

Don Shenk, director of The Tide® ministry, highlighted the initiative’s dual purpose: to repurpose unused shoes for a noble cause and to continue the ministry’s long-standing mission of spreading the Gospel globally. “The ‘Your Soles, Their Souls’ campaign not only helps clean out our closets but also furthers our endeavor to spread God’s word worldwide,” Shenk said. The ministry has been dedicated to broadcasting the Gospel for over 75 years and aims to continue its evangelistic efforts.

The campaign thrives on community participation, where people can donate new or gently used shoes to The Tide® ministry. A partner organization will then acquire these shoes at the end of the drive, with the proceeds supporting The Tide® ministry’s literacy classes in India. These classes use biblical materials to introduce the Gospel to students.

Shenk expressed gratitude for last year’s contributions of more than 4,000 pairs of shoes and anticipates even greater community involvement this year. “This initiative offers a simple way for everyone to contribute to the Great Commission by decluttering their closets,” he remarked.

For those interested in donating shoes or becoming an official collection point, visit The Tide® ministry’s website for further details.

The Tide® ministry, based in Chambersburg, Pa., has been a global voice for the Gospel for over 75 years. Despite reaching millions through its unique radio broadcasts, the need to spread Christ’s transformative love remains. By participating in the “Your Soles, Their Souls” shoe drive, donors can support the ministry’s goal to reach more individuals with the Gospel, continuing Reverend Charlie Byers’ legacy of innovative evangelism.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
