Jonathan Davenport led all 50 laps Saturday night to win the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rumble by the River finale at Port Royal Speedway and claim the $50,000 top prize.
Davenport started second alongside Ricky Thornton Jr., who had won the previous four national touring late model races at Port Royal.
Davenport took the lead at the start and remained in front through several restarts. Thornton had opportunities to challenge for the lead but was unable to make the pass.
Davenport earned his fourth career victory at Port Royal Speedway. Thornton finished second and Brandon Overton placed third.
Chris Madden finished fourth, followed by Hudson O’Neal in fifth. Devin Moran advanced from 21st to finish sixth.
Kyle Lee Wins Limited Late Model Feature
Kyle Lee earned his first limited late model victory at Port Royal Speedway in the 25-lap River Rock Campground and RV Park feature.
Thirty cars entered the limited late model competition, and track officials allowed all drivers to qualify for the main event.
Lee started third behind Kaiden Bard and Ryan Zook and moved into second place three laps into the race.
Lee began challenging Bard for the lead with 22 laps remaining and completed the pass one lap later in turns three and four.
Lee remained in front for the rest of the race to take the victory. DJ Myers finished second for the second consecutive night, while Bard finished third.
Jaxton Garman placed fourth and Shawn Shoemaker completed the top five.
Port Royal Speedway returns to action Saturday, Sept. 5, for the 172nd annual Juniata County Fair Opener and 23rd annual Super Late Model Butch Renninger Memorial.
The program will also include limited late models and USAC East Coast Wingless Sportsman.
