A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026 at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Andrew Geib officiating.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, 799 Baltimore St, Gettysburg, PA.

There will be a viewing at the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Service.

Joyce was born September 15, 1931 at home on the farm south of Barlow, PA near the Mason-Dixon Line, the daughter of the late Howard and Bertha (Reifsnider) Waybright.

Joyce was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 65 years, Ned Crouse, and her brothers Wilbur and Paul Waybright.

She was a lifelong resident of Gettysburg and a proud graduate of the one-room school house near her home and a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg High School, where she met Ned. They were high school sweethearts whose love and faith in one another were true for a lifetime.

A graduate of the Harrisburg School of Nursing in 1951, she worked as a Nurse at Annie M. Warner Hospital in Gettysburg PA. After marrying Ned in 1952, she lived a short time in San Diego, CA while Ned finished a stint in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict before they moved back to Gettysburg in 1953 to be near family and to start their own, which would become their family of six.

Joyce, much like her mother, was a warm, caring, compassionate, woman who always had a kind word for everyone. Much like her father, she lived her tireless, hard working farming roots while dedicating herself to proudly raising her family. Her love and endless care for her family continued through her last days on earth, always their Mother. She and Ned started Crouse Electric in 1964 and was the co-owner and bookkeeper till Ned retired in 1985.

Joyce was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, PA.

She is survived by four children, Cathy (Crouse) Kunkel and her husband Jim of Gettysburg, PA, Tom Crouse and his wife Joni of Cumming, GA, Wesley Crouse and his wife Kim of Naples, FL, and Lori (Crouse) Klauber and her husband Roy of Beaufort, SC; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Crouse, Ryan Kunkel and his wife Ashlee, Jason Crouse and his wife Melissa, Carrie (Kunkel) Hicks and her husband Doug Hicks, Emma Klauber and her husband Robin Shore, Peter Crouse and his wife Ariana, Ryan McManus and his wife Ashley, Grace (Klauber) Negron and her husband Roberto, Marina Crouse, Taylor McManus and his wife MJ, and Lilly (Klauber) Sarver and her husband Dylan; and fifteen great grandchildren, Natalee Kunkel, Braden Kunkel; Jozy Hicks, Skyler Hicks; Willow Crouse, Alder Crouse; Sophie Crouse; Grayson McManus, Ava McManus, Harper McManus; Evie McManus; and Maggie Negron, Eden Negron, August Negron, and Luke Negron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove Hospice (440 North Madison St, Hanover, PA 17331) or St. James Lutheran Church (P.O. Box 4596, Gettysburg, PA 17325).
