Shippensburg University graduate Justin Byler’s (Lititz, Pa./Warwick (Delaware/Louisburg)) recent power surge has garnered him the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Athlete of the Week Award.
The award was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Byler batted .529 (9-for-17) in four games this week, including four home runs, as the Raiders went 3-1 and completed a series sweep of Bloomsburg.
He hit three consecutive home runs against Bloomsburg in the Raiders’ 12-10 win last Friday, becoming just the fifth player in school history with three home runs in one game.
The trio of longballs, highlighted by a three-run shot to tie the game in the ninth, resulted in a career-high seven RBIs and 13 total bases. The 13 total bases fell one short of tying Shippensburg’s single-game record.
Byler is 15-for-24 dating back to March 9. He entered the week with three career home runs in 260 at-bats prior to hitting four HRs in 17 at-bats this week.
