On Saturday at the Biemesderfer, the Shippensburg University lacrosse team came up short in its 2022 season finale, falling to Millersville by a 16-12 score in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division matchup.
Shippensburg (4-13, 2-10 PSAC East) was within two goals of Millersville (12-5, 8-4) with 8:27 in the fourth quarter, after trailing 14-11 at the end of the third quarter. An early goal from graduate Alana Cardaci was the only goal that the Raiders scored in the fourth quarter, as the Marauders scored two more goals.
Senior Hannah Seifried led the Raiders with five goals, and ended her career with 112 goals, which ties her for 10th in school history with Lindsey Kennedy. Seifried also led the Raiders with six draw controls, ending her career with 188 draw controls, second in school history. She added five groundballs, and two caused turnovers.
Cardaci ended the day with a hat trick, and a career of 152 goals, fifth-most in SU history. She added four draw controls, an assist, two groundballs, and one caused turnover.
Senior Jena MacDonald finished her career with 101 assists and will graduate as the school-record holder. MacDonald added two groundballs and one caused turnover. Fellow senior Gabby Savarino will graduate fifth in school history with 135 career draw controls.
Shippensburg got a goal each from senior Kasey Schuchardt, junior Abby Seasock, sophomore Bailey Krahl, and freshman Sara Vosburg. Seasock added two assists, a groundball and a caused turnover, while Krahl added an assist. Vosburg had three groundballs and five draw controls.
Senior KiKi Brasher started in goal for the Raiders and made eight saves in three quarters. Freshman Kayla Vosburg came in goal for the fourth quarter and made four saves.
