Mr. Larry Dean Calimer, 84, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at UPMC Harrisburg.
Born May 31, 1938 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late Sylvester H. and Mary Louise (Daley) Calimer. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
Mr. Calimer graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1956.
He and his wife of over 65 years, Gloria (Butler) Calimer, were married on July 27, 1957 in Hagerstown, MD.
Mr. Calimer worked at Frick Company, Waynesboro for over 28 years. Prior to his retirement in 2003, he worked at Knouse Foods and Landis Tool Company.
He was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. He enjoyed volunteering at the Historical Society (Old Jail) in Chambersburg, PA for over 45 years. He also had a room named after him at the Oller House for the Waynesboro Historical Society and established the Pennsylvania Room at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, Waynesboro.
Mr. Calimer loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Timothy Calimer and Cynthia Baker, both of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Calimer and Ned Calimer, both of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard E. “Rick” Calimer; and one grandson, Cody M. Baker.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Rev. Alison Grove officiating.
Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the funeral home.
