Larry Eugene Culbertson, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home.

Born August 10, 1940 on the family farm in Greene Township, he was a son of the late Harold L. and Lucille Fegan Culbertson.

Larry attended Chambersburg Area Schools and after Junior High School went to work on the family farm.

He was employed as a truck driver for the former Horn’s Motor Express and later retired from Roadway after 25 years. He also served as a police officer with the Borough of Chambersburg and a deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years. He was of the Christian Faith. Larry was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, tractor pulling, metal detecting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Franklin County Tractor Pullers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Shatzer Culbertson, whom he married December 19, 1975; eight children, Curt Culbertson of Chambersburg, Renee Culbertson of Chambersburg, Pam Culbertson of Chambersburg, Jeff Forney of Chambersburg, Rhonda Looney of Illinois, Lori Rice (Allen) of Chambersburg, Kristine Wenrick (Eric) of Fayetteville, and Matthew Culbertson (Alyssa) of St. Thomas; twenty-four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Joe Culbertson of Chambersburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Culbertson; and a grandson, Cody Culbertson-High.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.

Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
