Leon G Harbaugh obituary 1940~2021
Mr. Leon G Harbaugh, 80, of Fairfield, PA, passed away Thursday morning, April 29, 2021, in the York Hospital.
Born October 7, 1940 in Sabillasville, MD, he was the son of the late George W. and Goldie Y. (Working) Harbaugh.
Mr. Harbaugh graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1959 and later served with the United States Army through the Maryland National Guard.
He and his wife of over 48 years, Ruth M. (Kiessling) Harbaugh, were married on August 3, 1972 in Hagerstown, MD.
Mr. Harbaugh worked for Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro, for over 37 years. He retired in 2002.
He was a member of Jacob’s Church, Fairfield, Acacia Lodge #586 F.&A.M., Waynesboro, 729 Infantry Division, Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Association, and Cascade American Legion Post #239. He was also a former longtime member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit.
Mr. Harbaugh enjoyed horses, hunting trips out west, and spending time with his dog, Tippy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Duane L. Harbaugh of Fairfield; one sister, Cinda D. Rohrbaugh of Fairfield; one brother, David C. Harbaugh of Sabillasville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dwight L. Harbaugh who passed away on January 16, 2003 and two brothers, Edward Harbaugh and Donald Harbaugh.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Richard Daughtridge and Rev. William Hammann officiating.
Burial will follow in Fountaindale Union Cemetery, Fairfield, PA, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home, where a Masonic funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the member of Acacia Lodge.
