Leona Levina Crawford “Grandma”, 84, of Warfordsburg, PA, passed away at her home, with her family by her side on Monday, September 11, 2023.

She was born on January 22, 1939, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Miller) Barnes.

Grandma took pride in her family and loved spending all of her time with them. She enjoyed traveling, playing games, quilting, baking, butchering and making kettles of soup. 

She managed the 76 Truck Stop in Breezewood, PA from the 1970’s to 1990’s and retired from Phantom Fireworks, where she was well known for her customer service.

She is survived by one sister, Sarah Snyder, sister-in-law Izella Barnes, two daughters; Cindy Booth (Andy Swope), Judy Neil (Arthur), six grandchildren; Christi Ritz (Brian), Jennifer Youngblood (Robbie Ternent), Brock Hoopengardner (Kayla Roth), Julie Rhoades (Kevin), Jodi Welch (John),  John Appel lll (Holley), twenty three great grandchildren; Levi (Caitlyn), Caleb (Elisha), Macy (Billy), Erica (Alyssa), Janelle, Nichole (Hayden), Tyler, Bruce, Alexis, Lucas, Tanner (Shae), Alan, Jacob, Lane, Jaylon, Matthew, Jaxon, Daniel, Khirsten, Sklar, Waylon, Jacob, Arianny and three great-great grandchildren; Brodee, Payslee, Archer and her beloved dog “Star”. 

In addition to her late husband, Wilmer “Pap” Crawford, whom she married on June 20, 1954, she was preceded in death by her brother Earl Barnes and brother-in-law Blaine Snyder.  

On behalf of Grandma, the family would like to extend a special thank you to the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company, Pastor Delmas Bard, Pastor Carl Sipes, Dr. Giffi, Oncologist, Shonda Price, Sipes Funeral Home and Grane Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company.

Grandma’s wishes were to entrust Science Care for the purpose of cancer research.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Bedford Chapel Church, Warfordsburg, PA. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home.
