LG Issues Recall for Electric Ranges Over Fire Hazards

LG has announced a recall of approximately 500,000 electric ranges due to a significant fire hazard. The concern stems from front-mounted knobs that can be accidentally activated by humans or pets, increasing the risk of a fire.

To address the issue, LG is advising consumers to immediately contact them for a free warning label which includes placement instructions. The label is designed to remind users to engage the Lock Out/Control Lock function available on the range’s control panel. This function prevents the activation of heating elements when the range is not in use.

Consumers can view an instructional video provided by LG on how to use the Control Lock/Lock Out feature by visiting https://vimeo.com/1037322282.

Additional safety precautions recommended by LG include keeping children and pets away from the range knobs, routinely checking that the knobs are turned off, especially before leaving the house or going to bed, and ensuring no objects are left on the range when not in use.

For more information on the recall, replacement, or to report an issue, consumers can reach out to LG through the following channels:

LG urges all owners of the affected models to take immediate action to prevent potential hazards.
