Dr. Joshua Dunklebarger and Dr. Kanika Shanker were recently honored by the Pennsylvania Medical Society for their achievements in medicine during their early careers.
Those named on the Top Physicians Under 40 list were nominated by colleagues and ultimately selected by a statewide committee of members. A total of 42 physicians across the state of Pennsylvania representing 19 specialties were selected for this award.
Dr. Shanker is a Pediatric Endocrinologist, with a passion for helping children with diabetes. She has been practicing at WellSpan Endocrinology in the Franklin County Community since 2016. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics Endocrinology.
Dr. Shanker also serves as a clinical assistant professor with the Penn State College of Medicine and works as the Clerkship Director of Medical Education at WellSpan Summit Health.
“I would like to thank my patients, my family, colleagues and mentors for giving me the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the community,” said Dr. Shanker. “I am grateful to the community that I serve.”
Dr. Joshua Dunklebarger of WellSpan Ear, Nose, Throat and Hearing Services has been serving the Franklin County community since 2011. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
In 2018, Dunklebarger was named Chairman of Surgery for WellSpan Summit Health and serves as President of the Dr. Roy Himelfarb Surgery Center. Dr. Dunklebarger also sits on the Chambersburg Hospital Board of Directors.
“I have always enjoyed patient care and forming lasting bonds with my patients. It is an honor to be recognized for my dedication to patient care by my peers,” said Dr. Dunklebarger. “I have enjoyed raising a family in Franklin County and calling this community home.”
