Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) received the top prize at the ESOP Association’s Annual Awards for Communications Excellence this month in Las Vegas. The award, for Total Communications, recognizes HRG’s efforts to promote the benefits of employee ownership to their employees and to the public. The company’s human resources director Laura Williams and ESOP Advisory Committee chairperson Raj Moola accepted the award.
HRG is committed to an open and honest exchange of ideas with their employee-owners at all levels of the organization. Leadership shares a wealth of information about the company’s performance and goals in monthly emails from the president, videos, livestream announcements, and quarterly reports from the chief financial officer. But, most importantly, they listen, too. Employee-owners can offer their input through a suggestion program, online surveys, and town hall meetings. They also can play an advisory role on the ESOP committee or OPT IN team (which focuses on operational innovations). The company promotes its ownership culture with an annual Valuation Day celebration each June and activities throughout ESOP Month each October, both of which are highlighted on social media.
HRG previously won the ESOP Association’s Annual Award for Communication Excellence in 2018 for “Employee Ownership Marketing.” They were also named ESOP Company of the year by the Pennsylvania-Delaware chapter of the ESOP Association in 2019.
