CHAMBERSBURG — A local man is in Franklin County Jail today, accused of stealing the sword from the Trojan statue at the entrance to Chambersburg Area Senior High School earlier this month.
Breon Darnell Oliver, 22, of Chambersburg, was arrested Friday night after police responded to a report of someone walking around inside the Chambersburg Aquatic Center on Memorial Drive.
At the fenced facility, police took Oliver into custody for questioning.
Police allege in court documents that Oliver not only trespassed at the Aquatic Center but was responsible for a number of other trespassing incidents under investigation, as well as the theft of the sword from the Trojan statue.
Police said he admitted to taking the sword and trespassing in the school’s football stadium May 5. He has been charged with theft and trespassing in that incident and trespassing in the Aquatic Center incident.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns, who set his bail at $75,000.
Oliver’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 28 in Franklin County Central Court.
