Mr. Marvin L Toms, 86, of Wildwood FL and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 in the Villages, FL.

Born March 20, 1935 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John R. and Bernadean (Gonder) Toms.

Mr. Toms enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952, serving aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. He later transferred to the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He retired in 1973.

Following his military career, Mr. Toms was employed by Fort Detrick, MD and Letterkenny Army Depot for a number of years before retiring from Grove Manufacturing. Following his retirement, he was worked part-time at Buchanan Auto.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, both of Waynesboro.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Toms especially enjoyed hunting and camping. He also enjoyed bowling with his many league friends, playing BINGO with his sister, Darlene and vacationing in Florida with his daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracey Christie of Shippensburg, PA and Heather Lee of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two siblings, Robert Toms and Sue Fuss; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Marvin L. Toms, Jr.; two sisters, Peg Little; and four brothers, Charles, Ron, Art and Johnny Toms.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Ray Kipe officiating.

Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, PA where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post # 1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Wednesday afternoon, in the funeral home.
